Online Opinion Piece - Why have resources if you’re not going to share?

In this assignment our goal was to be a professional writing in a somewhat article format commenting on a policy that was made, try to fix a policy, or make up a policy that should be made. I decided to support a policy that was trying to be made. The policy that was trying to be made was trying to make Africa be divided up into less countries with greater areas, in a sense that that would minimize the "landlocked" areas that would result in the causing of some poverty.

Ok let’s think on the real note. Consider you’re living in let’s say, Houston, Texas, and you have some gold in one pocket and diamonds in another pocket, but a total stranger living in Louisiana, in order to survive, needs just a piece of gold and a piece of diamond. Would you be so kind to share a fraction of what you have? Any normal person would not even have to consider it and say absolutely not! I have some gold and some diamonds. I’m practically rich so why would I even think about sharing! But if you really think about it, why be so greedy when you can help save a life.

In the United States, 50 states in total, each state has their own resources, but yet we love to share them, so why can’t on the other side of the world Africa being divided up into 44 different countries (which are divided up unequal) not be able to share, even if it was to save the life of another fellow African. Why have oil, diamonds, gold, iron, cobalt, uranium, copper, bauxite, silver, petroleum, woods, and tons of delicious tropical fruits if you’re not going to share!

There is currently an implication that Paul Collier from the Centre for the Study of African Economies, is trying to put out there in order to fix or attempt to fix the dilemma of the unequal dividing of Africa. Due to this dilemma there are children, young adults, and adults that are having to suffer with a result in malnutrition. Being that there is a severe case of malnutrition, there is what you call “landlocked” in Africa that specifically keeps the residents of each country to stay in their country, which results in residents not being able to get any time of food, medical care, and any other type of materials they might need to survive because the country that they might be located in does not have ever necessity. The pictures below show just how bad and depressing the result of this dilemma has become.

This brings me to the question that I will continue to ask. Why have so many resources if you are not willing to share? Specifically why put children through something as terrible as malnutrition? We need to support the implications that are trying to be made and or trying to grab the attention of those that can indeed help the situation in order to divide Africa into less countries with greater areas! I cannot grantee that this will upmost fix the problem of malnutrition but it will most definitely be in the right pathway to help those that are dealing with malnutrition. If we can possibly get Africa to split up into less countries just greater areas we can help those in need possibly be able to get food, medical care, and other materials in order to survive! Help make malnutrition in Africa history!
